Dorothy Mogavero
Board Member / Grant Writer

Dorothy Mogavero hails from Texas but has spent much of her life in California. There, she thrived alongside her husband, Dennis, and their five children, as well as twelve grandchildren and numerous beloved pets throughout the years. Her professional journey has included roles in real estate, banking, and nonprofit organizations. She dedicated decades to impactful positions that ranged from lending specialist and bank auditor to compliance officer, director at the Salvation Army, and Chief Operating Officer of United Way. In her nonprofit endeavors, Dorothy displayed profound passion and empathy towards initiatives aimed at helping the homeless and vulnerable populations within her community. She had a special ability to connect with everyone she encountered by offering love generously; her mantra was “everyone needs a friendly smile, a hug, and someone to listen. This is how we reach their hearts.”

Together with Dennis, she led an extraordinary life as pastors of Crestwood Christian Fellowship in California—a church entirely formed by volunteers—focusing on aiding those in need within their locality. Their mission resonated with Galatians 2:10: “Only they asked us to remember the poor; this is something I was eager to do.” Now retired, they have relocated to enjoy time with family while exploring what new paths God may have for them.

In joining the Mineral Wellness Center, Dorothy contributes her skills in program development, organization management, and grant writing. She looks forward eagerly to finding out how God will direct her abilities toward supporting those who are struggling in Mineral Wells. Among all of her work experiences thus far, volunteering within faith-based nonprofits stands out as especially meaningful for Dorothy.
